Uniquely Singapore Weekend Party @ Velvet 27.07.07

Thanks to the support of my good friend Cher, I've managed to secure a couple of small 'showcase' type appearances at Velvet over the next couple of weeks.

In addition, my ever Nastygirl invited me to make an appearance at her most recent event for the Singapore Tourism Board. I was the 'gift' to them so to speak Something - TRULY MALAYSIAN ;)

I (sort of) opened for DJ Scott from LA who was the highlight of the night (bloody awesome). Electrico, Singapore's biggest band export also performed. Boy do they ROCK!!

I was incredibly nervous before making my appearance. My debut at Velvet. My 2nd home. In my head I was under a lot of pressure. Also I was going before a largely UNKNOWN crowd. Sure I had a handful of my close mates, but Velvet does have a 1,100 pax capacity and I can count my closest friends on 2 hands (at a push).....

A COUPLE OF MY INVALUABLY SUPPORTIVE FWENS....

Sham announced me and invited me up to the podium. Once again I was blown away by the response. People were not just dancing... but watching me. Intently. They were engaging.

I felt that my music really was touching ppl....

wooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wat a HIGH!!!

Sorry I know i'm not really xpressing myself too well but it's hard to describe it PLUS I have to rush off to a meeting now *GULP*

Will post more photos once I get them off Ms Faucet.....

2 weeks ago - No Black Tie 18.07.07

Didnt really mention wat a fantastic success this night was. We had a great turn out - FULL HOUSE in fact!! Apart from having the most fantastic line up musicians backing me, the response from everyone was mindblowing. Wat I would consider the DREAM TEAM of skilled, seasoned & talented musician, included :

Mac Chew - Keyboards & MD
Gary Gideon - Drums
Amir - Percussions
Ajie - Guitar
Andy Peterson - Bass

It was a partiularly special night for me as it was the first time to perform some of my own songs with a fuller line up. In addition to having the invaluable support of my friends, it was wonderful seeing lots of new faces and particularly satisfying seeing these new faces enjoying themselves

Thoroughly exhilarating.... I cant wait to do more

A big Thank You, hug and kiss to EVERYONE who helped put the gig together which includes my sister, Evelyn, No Black Tie and my DREAM TEAM

And of course a massive thanks to everyone who came to support, old and new friends

Another busy busy day... - 23.07.07

Had a bad night's sleep sunday night cos me head was buzzing about having to wake up early for NTV7's The Breakfast Show. They were kind enough to do a little piece on me and I AM MALAYSIA. Aleya and Naz are fantastic hosts and always make me feel comfortable. I even had to sing some of the song live on air acapella-styleeeee!

The rest of the day I was like a cranberry (ZOMBIE - geddit????)

That same night I had to go to Studio 21 again to do more mixing.. This time I brought Mia - the original studio dog - She had an awesome time.
I was so tired I ended up falling asleep in the studio....

Monday July 9th, 2007 - retrospective

well this was a great night.

Studio 21. Puchong.

Mr. exarmani lays down live bass for China.

The mixman plays us This Time, Hold On & Starlite.

MR MIXMAN

Boogaloo is very happy. This Time is on new heights with the live brass and Starlite is ROCKING.

So to reward ourselves we went up to check out and chill in Mr exarmani's studio - VERY nice indeed. Uplighters. Moody. Warm Shades. Just up my street. Shame the roof terrace isnt quite ready yet.... but it was great bonding time.

MR EXARMANI

We talked about work. Where we've been with it. Wat we've experienced. The ppl we've had to deal with. The Scandals (mum's the word, I'm sworn to secrecy so you wont find exposes in this blog i'm afraid!!). And we ended witha good ole bitching session over a couple of glasses of *ch* with stale Vanilla coke (Ms Mung char-char's idea)

K... now I realise why my week flew by - last week was one of meetings and studio sessions.

Vocals for last song on the album in malay
Meetings with publishing and distribution companies as well as a radio station
Meeting about the design and set-up of my website
Meeting regarding marketing, communications & strategy regarding my album launch

Sunday 8 July 2007

Happy Birthday !! Marriage Congratulations!! (again)

Went to a lovely birthday/wedding pool party yesterday.. crazy company, salacious setup, fried food (perfect for my mild hangover), great games mixed in with a little macallan's 18 yr, music and 'chips' (refer to above picture)

It was a lovely evening... lots of chitter chatter between people meeting for the first time and amongst friends catching up and making up for lost time...

I found the games particularly enjoyable. There was a bit of everything - general trivia, music, physical challenge and my favourite - the ICE BREAKER

ICE BREAKER = write 3 things about urself on a piece of paper, one of which must be a complete LIE. Everyone will announce their chosen 3 statements and each of us must decipher/gauge/guess which of those statements for each person is the LIE. The person who guesses the most correct lies is obviously the winner.... Lots of laughing followed statements such as

1."I LOVE WOMEN" (frm those who CLEARLY bat for the other team)
2."I'M 21 YEARS OLD"
3."I HAD 10 ORGASMS IN A ROW"
4."I DID NOT HAVE SEX LAST NIGHT"
5."I'M REALLY A MAN"

I cant believe I even managed to do a bit of networking too... my business card case actually came home EMPTY! Let's hope somethng comes of it.

I was somewhat somber, sensible and sleepy last night. Pretty worn out actually and spent the last hour of the evening watching the MEN *EXCHANGE MONEY*... (incidently bringing one of them some luck each time I cut the deck!) My lap companion was of course GUCCI who is just So adorable... I wanted to take him home with me...

It was great seeing Nino, Mui, Ida, Harold, Nefta, Jason, Sheila and Enjoyce again ... memories of Bali ;) (and of course we missed those who couldnt make it...)

Happy Birthday D... You're so blessed to have such a wonderful husband, Gucci, family and friends. And you friends are blessed to have you in return!

fffffffffff***ing upset :'(

was feeling reminiscent of my London life... particularly my London life way back in the 90s. Went to dig out all my old digital photos stored on CD only to find I cant access any of the photos.

NONE.

NADA.

A big fat ZERO.

My life before moving back here in 2003 is all lost!!!!

I'm devastated.....

3 of my favourite things in one day?? Blessed

Well well well.. it's been quite a busy time since my last full entry... Let me see...

OUTSIDE SPORE INDDOR STADIUM AND ALL EXCITED TO SEE CHRISTINA!!

Spore was GREAT... chilled the first 2 nights with family and shopping in the day.

LARISSA & LAUREN

Saturday nite ROCKED. Christina Aguilera IS a STAR. An INTERNATIONAL STAR. I was blown away. Everything about the show - the set, the outfits (she changed for every song), the band, the dancers, the circus set-up, the sound quality, the choreography, her beauty (she was radiating and definitely looks better in real life) and of course, HER VOICE. Perfect Control. Perfect Pitch. Perfect Performance. She opened with AINT NO OTHER MAN,

AINT NO OTHER MAN

She followed with most of her big hits, some songs off the current album, current single CANDYMAN, and closed with BEAUTIFUL. OH MOTHER made a good friend of mine cry and brought me clse to tears. Her rendition of HURT was definitely the highlight of the night for me.

OH... did I forget to mention that ths Boogaloo had FRONT ROW SEATS..... yeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrr

Yup I was THIS CLOSE.... awesome :)

TALENT. PURE TALENT. REAL TALENT. wat the hell am i doing...

i miss you
