Wireless Festival Hyde Park Day#3

Day 3 of Wireless, the last day of this great festival in Hyde Park was always going to see the largest park in London packed to its full capacity. With Jay-Z headlining and closing the event, would you expect anything less? Beyonce, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Prince Harry were said to be there to catch the man too.
Day 3 Wireless started incredibly late and I was gutted to miss out on a half hour set by Slash - I heard he did 'Sweet Child O'Mine'. I'm not sure I can forgive myself for missing that *sniff* :'(

Nonetheless we got there in time to set up base camp (again) and catch the very Bri'ish Lily Allen whom I thoroughly enjoyed. She definitely injects a lot of energy into her already catchy and literary songs. She dedicated her song F**K YOU (which also happens to be one of my favourites) to the idiotic people in the the crowd who were tossing full bottles of drink in the air. *YOBS* & *PLEBS* are two words that come to mind

It was altogether a chillier day, so Nads & I lapped up the last rays of sunshine
With sunset fast approaching we managed to bump into several Malaysians which we were dumbfounded by - if you have any idea how large Hyde Park is, you will agree that was quite a feat. Our group grew to about 12 people - we were definitely representing Malaysia that day : ha!

For reasons I shall not mention, I didn't end up taking many photos that day - I guess I just really wanted to soak it all in - but I did manage to catch a brill picture of the horizon over the crowd's heads on my blackberry. I love the way the sunlight shimmers over the heads
As the sun lowered, the clouds gathered and the temperature plummeted. Thank Gosh the rain held off but it did feel rather nippy standing out there waiting for Mr Beyonce to start. But once the countdown appeared on the screens you could feel the pent up energy within the crowd start to simmer....
JAY-Z !!!
The view from where Mr Shawn Carter is standing
He obviously played all his hits past and present and even invited Mr Hudson up to perform 'Forever Young'... I was hoping he might call up is lovely wife... but alas no

The highlight of the night for me; the moment when the state of my freezing body ceased to matter was when the musical intro of Empire State of Mind commenced....
and everybody cheered. When Jay-Z got to the chorus he got his band to cut out and all you could hear was what seemed to be every voice in Hyde Park singing :

"New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there's nothing you can't do...."

The lyrics of this fantastic song reverberating above the trees

I'm so grateful to have been able to experience it. One can only dream of how it feels to be on that stage listening to thousands of people sing the song you wrote back to you under a summer's night sky

*Hair-raising*

Wireless Festival Hyde Park Day#2

After a brilliant greasy lunch with KBF & Nads, our day 2 at Wireless started with none other than Snoop... We missed Missy Elliot who was on before but heard that she started late (as usual) and the organisers actually pulled the plug on her set instead of allowing her to run over - NICE ONE

Izan, Sab, Nads, Boogalooboo & Snoooooooop
And as dusk approached we went through our usual routine of finding a good spot to set up base
Nads & KBF messing around : I reckon the 3 butts in this picture attracted the next situation....
Random Revellers wanting to get in on the picture! (Notice Jason watching quizically, or was he trying to stay standing?? Izan is doing the Malaysian 'thing' ie. SQUATTING)
The highlight of Day 2 for me was 2ManyDJs - althought the fresh lustre of the set was taken away after having already seen them at KL Live thanks to Heineken, the setting in Hyde Park could not be matched.
Free advertising for Red Bull
2ManyDJs say Goodbye with some serious confetti
Headliners for Saturday were LCD Soundsystem whom I must say I found extremely YAWN-WORTHY. Nonetheless we had no problem continuing to party and soak in the true British summer park vibes as the next few pix will illustrate :

This crazy group then stumbled their way to Edgware Road where we stocked up on kebab supplies from Drool-worthy MAROUSH and managed to get an early(ish) night, in preparation for the big Wireless finale....

Wireless Festival Hyde Park Day#1

Approach to Wireless Festival in Hyde Park... the calm before the storm :

We arrived in time for the Ting Tings...
After which we headed over to meet JoyceTheFairy who was over at the Pepsi tent watching The Temper Trap. She gave us great marker as she told us to look out for the TALL MAN IN A RED TEE SHIRT.... we found her in the centre of the tent heaving with sweaty bodies.

As dusk approached we did a loo stop, refilled our drinks and made our way back to the mainstage in time to catch the main act for the night...
We found a great spot where we set up 'camp'
KBF & I fooling around before Friday's headliner : P!nk
It was great seeing Wilson again ;)I finally got to meet KBF's mate YishYene - she is well and truly bonkers, like a fruit & nut bar minus the fruit.... you could have a laugh anywhere, even in a drain, in the company of YishYene. Check her blog here

Boogalooboo, smallcrazy (YishYene), KBF (Joyce)
My Fav pic of the day :)
P!nk made a GRAND entrance as she burst out of a box held aloft by a huge crane !!!Must be something in the summer air

P!nk peppered her show with lots of aerial tricks which mesmerised us all - that woman is WELL FIT
The most bonkers of all things was when she climbed into a huge ball and threw herself into the crowd!!
Day 1 Wireless - THE END
Ended up staying awake til the wee hours of the morning *sorehead*
