Definitely one of the best soundtracks for the end of summer...

So a HUGE Thank You to Juice and all of you who have not just voted for me but have helped to spread the word. Please continue to spread the word to the four corners of the globe and *keep voting as I need to hang on to that number 1 spot until the closing date of the competition which is still a month away (September 27th)

*Details of that voting loophole can be found

All Good Things Come To Those Who Wait

The weeks in August seem to be flying past me. The holy month of Ramadhan is generally a quiet one yet busy too.

Quiet in terms of party events but busy in terms eating events as friends, colleagues an families gather to break fast together.

This year Ramadhan for me has been a time to get my head down to even more work. I've turned into a bit of a hermit. Mum and Dad have been away on a holiday together just the two of them *aaaw* and I've basically been at home working on various different projects that are not strictly music-related.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not giving up on music - as I have said before, music is my life-blood - to give up on it would be equivalent to suicide!Lots of things in the pipeline for this Boogaloo - collaborations related to music, fashion (yes!), events and one that's a mobile social network application!

Ultimately this means that I have been lying low somewhat having transformed myself into a hermit, but not for long hopefully :)

SO much to do and so little time to do it in but I won't let that deter me from functioning at my full potential

Apologies for being so quiet, but it's all for a reason :)

Can u make my DESTINY a winner?

So...

Here it is...

I promised I would let you know when I need to call upon your love and support and votes

Your votes have already helped me bag 7, yes, that's right, seven music awards so I have faith that your collection of love and 'clicks' will again work its magic.

The 7 :) Thx to YOU

I've submitted my remix of 'Destiny' (Boogaloo's Remix) in Zero 7's remix competition and need you to vote and even comment should you so choose.

Incidentally, I am currently at no. 5 on the 'chart' so pls keep voting. The competition ends at the end of September.

Do listen to the other entries. You'll find that all have basically taken the provided original Zero 7 samples and built beats and a vibe around it. I reckon mine still keeps the main vein of the song representing it in a different light and injecting what's me into it.

The only original parts I used was Sia's vocal track. All instruments played and programmed by me. All the other vocals are mine too.

Instead of being just a remix, I've turned it into a duet - that's how I made my dream come true... I got to 'sing' with and do backing vocals for Sia ;)

Just click here to vote. And you can spread your lovin' by spreading the news - just hit the share buttons below

What's YOUR Destiny ? Here's mine

So.... I've been working on an album of covers for awhile now. Slotting in the time to work on it whenever I'm free (which is time that is few and far between). I'm doing everything on this for now... arranging, programming, playing all the instruments, recording all the vocals etc and doing it all, including mixing, at my very own Boogalooboo Studio

It's an interesting journey and I savour the time I get to invest in this. It's a project that is very close to me as the journey has seen me learn many new things about music writing and music production.

Most importantly it's made me feel even closer to the songs that already mean so much to me and in a strange way I now feel a bit of an intimacy with each of the singers & songwriters that I never felt before.

Although I have posted up a sampler of one of the covers on my Myspace page during Chinese New Year, I have decided to preview an entire song to you. I hope that you love it as much as I do and that you will support the song and me when the time is right.... (don't worry, I will let you know when that time comes)
I have always dreamed of meeting Sia, and to sing with her is pure fantasy. I got to live this fantasy for 5 minutes.

Perhaps I should call it "(My) Destiny"

If I can be sure of one thing in my life, that is, I am meant to make music

Enjoy x

Inception v Perception

Watched Christopher Nolan's (The Dark Night, Batman Begins, Insomnia, Memento) new blockbuster starring Leo Di Caprio 'Inception' this week.

Brilliant idea.
Brilliant movie.

One of my favourite quotes from the movie being :

"An inception is an idea that’s like a virus, it’s highly contagious. The small seed of an idea can grow to define or destroy you." (source)

-------- -------- --------

I had some of my GFs over last night - at home - chill sesh - chat - sip - gossip - laughter and lots & lots of Wiiiiiiiiiii

It was really good to be among them and I felt so blessed with the friendships I have built with each of them in the short time I have known them.

The wave of emotion took me into a few moments of reflection.

Food for thought for my hungry mind

I have on occasion, found myself wondering how it is to be, that I discover the nature of my friends' work, collaborations, accomplishments and achievements through the words of others, and not always directly from my friends themselves...

Why ?

This was a train of thought that used to leave me feeling pathetically 'sorry for myself' in the way one felt as a kid when picked last as a team member for a competitive event; Or being last to know about a rocking birthday party when you're in your teens; or an engagement between two friends whom you 'thought' you were close to.

You know.... (or maybe you're fortunate enough not to know) that feeling of low self-esteem.

Henceforth arrived a great (self)-discovery -

In all the times we laughed and joked together and I shared with them news & progress relating to my life and work, how many times did I ask :

"So how are things with you?"

Not everyone is open to telling their own story, without first being prompted. Some people are simply shy about sharing news, especially good news!

Just because I haven't asked in the past does not mean I am not interested to know - I simply assumed / took for granted that everyone expresses freely the way I do.

So, by changing my perception, I've found a way in which to re-present myself and get myself back into the loop that I had perceived myself to have fallen out of.

You are witnessing the inception of a new perception

I much prefer this idea to define my growth. Don't you love Life's lessons? I do xxx
